Morristown, N.J. — November 12, 2024 — Crum & Forster (C&F), in partnership with law firm O’Toole Scrivo, continues its commitment to combating food insecurity through the annual Thanksgiving Project. Now in its fourth year, C&F and O’Toole Scrivo extended support to eight food banks and pantries nationwide, providing fresh produce, turkeys, and other essentials to help families in need enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
According to Feeding America, more than 47 million people in the U.S. face hunger, including one in five children. Food insecurity disproportionately affects vulnerable groups such as children, seniors, and communities of color.
“The Thanksgiving Project underscores C&F’s dedication to fostering impactful partnerships and empowering employees to make a difference in their local communities,” said Mari Marques-Thomas, Vice President, Impact & Belonging at C&F. “Our employees are the heart of these efforts, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to service.”
Through contributions and volunteerism, C&F employees and partners made a tangible impact for these eight organizations and the people they serve:
- Atlanta Community Food Bank (GA): A new partnership in 2024, C&F’s support provided more than 30,000 meals and contributed to packaging 10,908 pounds of food for senior citizens.
- Community Action Program for Central Arkansas (AR): Donations included turkeys and other essentials for the fourth year, supporting approximately 700 meals and additional items for families in need.
- Food Bank for New York City (NY): Contributions enabled up to 50,000 meals and supported community pantry efforts, which serve 3,000 households monthly.
- Forgotten Harvest (MI): Contributions equated to 40,000 meals, with volunteers assisting in sorting surplus food for redistribution.
- Greater Chicago Food Depository (IL): Donations provided more than 30,000 meals, bolstering food and nutrition programs for vulnerable populations.
- Houston Food Bank (TX): Contributions supplied 30,000 meals, with C&F employees volunteering at one of the nation’s largest food bank warehouses.
- The Sharing Place (NJ): Efforts supported groceries for more than 900 individuals (300 families), with C&F volunteers assembling food packages.
- Table of Hope (NJ): Contributions provided 500 meals, with C&F employees organizing a successful donation drive to further support the pantry.
Many C&F employees coordinated efforts, volunteered, or donated to this year’s Thanksgiving Project. Local leaders and volunteers included: Mark Yavinsky (GA), Mike Alderson (AR), Pamela Corey (NY), Blaine Golles (MI), Mark Coyle (IL), Clarissa Barboza (TX), and Mary Coffey (NJ).
