A premium audit is the process by which your insurer verifies the accuracy of the premium(s) charged to an insured for an insurance policy. It typically involves the review of financial records, payroll information, or other relevant documents or information of the insured to ensure that the premium charged accurately reflects the risk exposure and coverage provided by the insurance policy.
It depends on the terms of your policy and certain other factors. Premium audits are typically performed annually, but may sometimes be performed more or less frequently.
The information needed to complete your premium audit should be listed in the premium audit request email you received from us. However if additional information is needed, please refer to this Audit Instructions document for a breakdown of what is likely required based on your exposure base.
Yes. Even though your policy has been cancelled, a premium audit must be conducted to review the risk exposures that existed during the policy period.
The goal at Crum & Forster is to provide an accurate premium audit, so if there is an issue with your recently completed audit please submit a formal dispute to our premium audit team for review. Please see the “Audit Dispute Process” section above for further instruction.
Even after your premium audit has been closed out due to non-compliance, you may still be eligible to reopen and complete it. Please see the “Process to Reopen a Non-Compliant Audit” section above for further instruction.
